Biography[edit]

On May 1, 2012, Thomas "JaKaTaK" Labonte quit his job moving boxes for FedEx, sold all of his possessions, and moved from Rhode Island to California to pursue a career in eSports.

Projects[edit]

JaKaTaK has created content and projects for SC2.

TheCore[edit]

Like "Standard" and "Grid", TheCore is a hotkey layout.

TheCore is a completely new take on how to use a keyboard in StarCraft II. It offers all 10 control groups, all 8 location keys, and out of the 24 keys required to play Starcraft, 17 are adjacent to the resting position or closer. All the common key combinations are planned out to flow smoothly without finger repetition.

E. g. in "Standard" you build Probes with E your hand has to "travel" to P (patrol) or Camera Hotkey Location F8. TheCore tries to minimize your hand movement, making it more efficient, when it comes to distance (across the keyboard).

TheSandbox[edit]

TheSandbox tries to help players improve.

How is Deliberate Practice more effective than ladder?
JaKaTaK ()

The team around the project believe in Deliberate Practice[1] instead of "just playing the game".

TheStaircase[edit]

TheStaircase is a method of learning StarCraft II with multiple progressive steps. In step #1, the rule is "You may not mine gas and you may not look at your army, when it left your base". Each steps adds access to more units. The goal of this method is to focus on improving Mechanics.

LotV Custom[edit]

Since not all SC2 players got access to Legacy of the Void: Closed Beta, Jak and a few other people created a mod called "LotV Custom (unofficial fan alpha)". Maps with Archon Mode are available in the Arcade.

Hybrid Settings[edit]

Hybrid Settings is a new approach to graphic settings.

What was so unique in these settings? They were different from official ingame settings presets, and they took a place between Low and Medium.
Existor ()

In 2011 a poll about graphic settings was created. TL users chose "Low" as their favorite setting (42%, a 135 out of 325).[2]
