Bryan "nirvAnA" Choo is a Singaporean StarCraft player, having represented Singapore at the World Cyber Games in 2000 and 2001. After a long absence from gaming due to studies / work, he managed to come back and win the Singapore StarCraft II WCG in 2011 and represented Singapore in Busan, Korea.

Biography[edit]

Playing out of his hometown Singapore, nirvAnA was a racepicker in his StarCraft days and has played Protoss since the StarCraft II beta, though he occasionally offraces as Terran instead playing the PvP match-up. He is best known for his top 10 finish at the WCG 2001 finals,[1] and for starring in the famous Maynard vs Villert replay.[2][3] Due to real life commitments, he plays StarCraft II casually while managing sc2sea.com, the SEA community website he created. In 2011, he switched to random to understand all the races well in order to write a strategy guide. In September, he practiced very hard for over a month for the StarCraft II Singapore WCG finals and managed to win. Because of this, he will represent Singapore in Korea again.

In Beta[edit]

nirvAnA has appeared to have made a comeback to gaming. Initially playing under the nickname 'aLt', nirvAnA has participated in a number of community tournaments such as DacTheHork's Triple Strike Team Cup and Smuft's Team Battle Tournament as well as winning the Singapore Past WCG Champs Invitational SC2 Tournament.[4]

Wings of Liberty[edit]

Shortly after the release of retail, nirvAnA was very active in the ladder, and taking the #1 spot in Blizzard's Top 200 list for the SEA server multiple times.[5] Other tournament results include placing #5 in the SEA Blizzard Invitational 2010, and #3 in the WD PSI 2010 $5,000 tournament, both times finishing as the highest ranked Protoss.deL from CyberGamer conducted an interview with him before the WD PSI Storm 2010 event.[6] He has also been very active in the community scene, co-administrating the first SEA Nation War League.[7]

After that period he took a lengthy break and transitioned into more of a managerial role for Singapore and the SEA server in general, founding the SEA community website SC2SEA. He continues to help run several events in the SEA scene from the website such as SEACL, SC2SEA.com Community Open and SEA Nation Wars 2. In the same vein, he leads the SEA clan aLt. Though he is focusing on the community aspect of StarCraft II due to the time constraints of married life and a career he maintains a competitive presence on the SEA server as a player finishing in the top 16 in both seasons. He also competes as part of the Singaporean National Team for SC2.

In late 2011, he made a return to competitive play and won the StarCraft II Singapore WCG finals, earning the right to represent Singapore at the WCG Finals 2011 in Korea.
