Robbie "Rob" Plata, previously known as Tesla, is an American Protoss player who is currently playing for ROOT Gaming.

Rob is a GM on the Americas server. He regularly competes in team leagues and regional events.

Wings of Liberty[edit]

Tesla started playing Starcraft II shortly after its launch in 2010. Observing his siblings playing Brood War growing up Tesla was motivated to try the game. At a young age, Tesla had discovered a passion for Starcraft II. With the assistance of his older brother, he began traveling to play competitively at several MLG events from 2011 onward.

Heart of the Swarm[edit]

Though Tesla had competed at events, he had never officially joined a team due to disinterest. After competing at a local event in Philadelphia near the end of Heart of the Swarm, Tesla had made connections with Rival Gaming and decided to join the roster.

Legacy of the Void[edit]

Legacy of the Void being a very different game from the previous expansions, Tesla wanted to capitalize on the opportunity. Practicing a lot during his first semester of college, Tesla managed to do well in clan wars for Rival Gaming. In the second semester of Tesla's freshman year of college, he had discovered another Starcraft II player went to his school. They later created a team to compete in the Collegiate Starleague. The Temple University Starcraft team was rewarded for their good performance in the league. They had been flown out to Dreamhack Austin to compete against UC Berkeley in the Finals, as well as compete in the main event. Deciding to pursue different opportunities, this would be the last event Tesla played for Rival Gaming. Short after, Tesla joined Team Ascension which would go on to become Sloth E-Sports Club. Temple Starcraft would go on to become 2016 and 2017 runner-ups in CSL until it won first place in the 2018 season with the addition of Suppy.
