About[edit]

The StarCraft 2 Survivor League is a team league organised by Pool-6 Entertainment, featuring eight European teams.

Format[edit]

The league matches will be played in All-Kill Format, in Best of 7 (meaning the first team that eliminates four players of its opponent wins the match). Once a one of the teams has eliminated three players of the opponent team, the viewers will be able to revive a previously defeated player of the team which is behind, in order to act as the ace player, via a poll. If the series is tied 3-3, the ace player of the other team will also be chosen by the viewers among its previously defeated players.

The teams will play one match per week during the round robin. The ranking system works as described below:

  • A game won gives one point. A team match won gives two extra points. An all-kill gives an extra point. A team which loses its rebirth loses one point (no negative point). Hence the outcomes of a match could be the following:
    • 4-0: gives 7 points to the winner and 0 point to the loser
    • 4-1: gives 6 points to the winner and 0 point to the loser
    • 4-2: gives 6 points to the winner and 1 point to the loser
    • 4-3: gives 5 points to the winner and 2 points to the loser[1]

At the end of the group stage, the four best-ranked teams will face each other in a double-elimination bracket.

Participants[edit]

Eight teams have been initially invited to participate in the tournament: Alien Invasion, eSahara, eSuba, ESC ICYBOX, Millenium, Mistral eSport, RoX.KIS, and Serious Gaming. On February 2nd 2012, during the first round of the group stage, Mistral eSport disbanded and was subsequently replaced by team BLAST.[2] On March 15th, ESC ICYBOX (which was standing at the last place of the group stage at the time) gave up the league, arguing that its players disliked setup for the matches.[3] On March 22nd, Absolute Legends acquired eSahara, hence replacing it in the league.[4] Serious Gaming dropped out of the league as well on April 26th, as it was forced into inactivity due to the loss of their main sponsor.[5]
