eSportsNorway[edit]

ESPNOR SC2 Invitational and ESportsNorway Invitational 2012 are the same tournament. Minor Tournaments have a link to the least finished tournament page. I'm not sure what the protocol is regarding things like this, but I think it might have been a tournament organiser who started the first (least complete) page. There will also be a new similar event 22-23 march 2013 (I'll try to put up info as soon as I know more) Should I make one main page, linking to the other events by the same organizer like Dreamhack?
- Sawman (talk) 13:57, 10 February 2013 (CEST)

I made ESPNOR SC2 Invitational redirect to ESportsNorway Invitational 2012. As for your last question, unless they are in the same event series (like GSL, OSL, TSL), do not make an overview page for the organizer. — itsjustatank (talk) 02:04, 11 February 2013 (KST)

Nemean LAN 2013[edit]

Hi, Nemean LAN 2013 is under construction. It might be an idea to move the page to the Nemean LAN page, but I haven't gathered all the information needed yet. The online qualifiers are under way, and it would be a great if I got some help with this (There might be some Norwegians who would like to help if they knew about the page).
- Sawman (talk) 17:40, 06 February 2013 (CEST)

I've moved it to mainspace, it should get a bit more attention there. — itsjustatank (talk) 02:32, 10 February 2013 (KST)

Conn.Si Arena Season 1[edit]

Hello. The tournament was recently usefied due to not meeting the standards, but the only requirement I see for Leagues and Tournaments is a 50$+ prize pool. The tournament has a prize pool of €110, which is more than the 50$. I was wondering if there was a specific reason for that?
Son1x 11:18 10 January 2013 (KST)

That prize pool didn't seem to be listed on that page, I'll move it back. — itsjustatank (talk) 12:44, 10 January 2013 (KST)

Stephano ID[edit]

Hello. I just saw that you undo my correction of the Trivia for the Stephano ID. Since one year the Trivia say that his ID is a hommage to his Tunisian Roots (without citation). In fact Stephano is not a Tunisian name and he said multiple time that the ID come from the character Vincent Distephano (Alien Resurrection). I can't verify if he talk about it in this interview (i'm in work ^^): http://www.dailymotion.com/video/k2XALBhhSan0vJ3cPgL?start=158 . If not, i will find one of the interviews where he talk about that. Wertheron

I just removed it because there is no citation for it, not really because of the content. If you can tell me the exact timestamp for this, and if he himself mentions it, it can go back in. Also, it's much easier to sign your posts using four ~~~~, rather than adding [[User:Wertheron|Wertheron]]. — itsjustatank (talk) 01:15, 5 December 2012 (KST)

Best Yearly Result[edit]

The point isn't to include all premier results in that tiny box, but to show their Best Yearly Result.

That table is meant to show the best yearly result, indeed. But I have to ask, who are you, who am I, who are we, to state that (let me quote you) "the prestige of winning IPL far outstrips that of him winning ESWC"? We obviously have to set a cut-off limit in order to prevent these tables from becoming overcrowded, which we did by making it so that only premier events get to be featured here. That is the full extent of the discrimination between events that are displayed in there and events that are not that we can allow ourself to do. Meaning that we can't arbitrarily decide to feature a premier event and not another.
If you believe that the prestige the ESWC is by far outstripped by other premier events to the point of wanting to deny it a spot in that table, then you are welcome to open discussion on ESWC's status as a premier or a major event. But you can't go around and decide all by yourself to edit team pages in a way that circumvent a policy that has been uniformly enforced across the wiki so far.
Best regards!
Koorb  Talk to me  08:00, 15 November 2012 (KST)
Limiting to premier means we are still trying to fit 93058093248569034860934860934860934860934 events in a 35px or so width box. It is asinine and we have to start picking ONE or TWO to fit there. — itsjustatank (talk) 08:20, 15 November 2012 (KST)
And yes, I do not consider ESWC premier, based on the way the last two years of their events have been conducted so poorly. As such, his performance at IPL, which is indisputably premier, ranks higher than ESWC. — itsjustatank (talk) 08:24, 15 November 2012 (KST)

University Star League[edit]

hi,

we're adding a 500 SEK prize (~$70) to the champion. Hopefully this will be increased when we find additional sponsors. OK that I moved us back into the main wikispace? Let me know otherwise! SoupDucK 07:13, 23 November 2012 (KST)

Yes! — itsjustatank (talk) 07:31, 23 November 2012 (KST)

Cleanup template.[edit]

Hello. You have added cleanup template to one of my articles. I checked the suggested page but couldn't find anything that I have done wrong accoring to it. Please tell me why the template is justified or remove it. --Chaosu 04:13, 26 November 2012 (KST)

The pages do not meet the formatting standards of this wiki, and of player pages. — itsjustatank (talk) 07:33, 26 November 2012 (KST)
I based the formating on player pages without such template. Please link to guideliness, in my opinion it looks exactly as other player pages. --Chaosu 12:34, 26 November 2012 (KST)
In your opinion. Those pages are poorly formatted stubs. Go see the current featured page for an example of what a well-formatted non-stub player page looks like. — itsjustatank (talk) 14:10, 26 November 2012 (KST)
Please don't forget it's a stub - it is supposed to contain little information. I based formating on other player profiles and I don't see anything that I did wrong. You added a cleanup template which links to bunch of rules which (if I'm correct) my sub all obeys. Please forward me to guidenlies which my stub is not following so I can update accordingly, otherwise I don't know what is supposed to be wrong there. --Chaosu 15:32, 26 November 2012 (KST)
Look, I've already stated that the pages are poorly formatted and are stubs. We place those templates on pages that deserve to be on mainspace but are of poor quality and should be improved. You are hung up on the template being on the page when you should be improving the page. — itsjustatank (talk) 01:05, 27 November 2012 (KST)
Thank you kindly for telling me what I _should_ do. Too bad your words got no meaning to me and you are unable to explain them. If you'll ever understand your mistake, shoot me a pm on tl. Until then, enjoy your cleanup templates. Put me on watchlist so you can add more of them. All the best. --Chaosu 10:58, 27 November 2012 (KST)

TheoRy's Liquipedia Page[edit]

I'm going to try to edit that page and bring it up to Liquipedia standards. Any way we can keep that page from being deleted?

First, sign your posts on talk pages using four tildes: ~~~~. Second:

  1. If he is on FXO, bring it up to par with our player article space standards.
  2. I would encourage you to find a photo that Liquipedia can use of that player, rather than a useless copyrighted Nintendo image that has zero encyclopedic value.
  3. As of right now that page is a joke, made by a joker, and it reflects badly on this player and the organizations with which they are affiliated.

I'll move it to your Userspace for now, because the original creator is banned.

Re: Spam edits[edit]

I was in doubt about these ones. On the one hand, they crop up on every page, but on the other, they actually do contain quotes, so I guessed it was okay. Is there any easy way to de-review all of them at once?

Oh, and I think the guy who edited them all has gotten auto-promoted by now. --IMAniaC 08:55, 3 January 2013 (KST)

I'm still in the middle of fixing it all. The quotes themselves have little to no encyclopedic value. If they are used as references for statements made on the wiki, or put on the wiki itself it is a different story, but all they do is drive views to a novelty page that is not Liquipedia or Team Liquid. It would be like if ESPORTSPROBLEMS got listed on every player page. — itsjustatank (talk) 08:57, 3 January 2013 (KST)
Okay, thanks! And sorry about the extra work :/ --IMAniaC 09:29, 3 January 2013 (KST)
hey Justatank, sorry about all this man, I originally asked about putting links to sc2quotes a while back on the IRC channel (back in Oct/Nov), and i did get approval for putting the links under external links;I only put in a few for major casters/players like Day9, Artosis and Tasteless, Grubby, guys with substantial amounts of quotes. one of our sc2quotes guys went a little overboard in the last few days putting up links and i'm sorry about the whole mess. If it's okay with you i'd like to restore some of the links for the players/personalities that actually have huge quotation counts. --fenrysk 19:34 3 Jan 2013 (KST)
I really don't feel like this belongs on the wiki. We already link to these people's twitters, social media, and profiles if at all possible. It feels only marginally acceptable if used as a reference and citation for a claim made on the wiki; but we prefer the original source for those. There is also the fact that the site has ads and sells merchandise which leads me to really lean towards non-inclusion. Team Liquid rules (the 10 commandments) directly disallow spam behavior, and sending traffic to sites that are not Liquipedia or Team Liquid for non-justifiable reasons should be avoided on this wiki if at all possible.
If the person who added those links used a bot to add them like it looked like, have them register as a bot account before editing further on the wiki.

My mistake, thank you for pointing that out.

Not a big deal, just wanted to explain the syntax. — itsjustatank (talk)

Capitalization of Warcraft[edit]

Hi,

I just noticed one of your edits on the IEF 2012 page: You changed the capitalization from Warcraft to WarCraft. But unlike in StarCraft, the 'c' should be lower-case (see Wikipedia's page for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne and Blizzard's official page for Warcraft III), shouldn't it? –ChapatiyaqPTSM (talk) 08:20, 5 February 2013 (KST)

ah you are right, i made an assumption there. — itsjustatank (talk) 10:29, 5 February 2013 (KST)
