From Liquipedia StarCraft 2 Wiki

Hi. This is santah from sc2casts.com. You asked what the reason was for this edit - The guy keeps putting his SC2Links.com link above SC2Casts even though he added it after SC2Casts was already there and it's annoying and disrespecting and I'm just trying to fix it. Let me know. Talk to me

Red links make me upset.

Me too :( --tofucake, Senior Editor 11:36, 18 April 2011 (KST)
Are red links completely like 100% undesirable? I seem to see them a lot on Wikipedia. —DivinO— talk.to.me 10:09, 17 May 2011 (KST)
I originally wrote that because I had an annoying red "my talk" on the top right of my screen every time I browsed LP and it really annoyed me :P
Regarding red links in general; Personally redlinks all over an article make it feel incomplete in my eyes. However due to a recent change in the player template a lot of articles that were previously red-free are ridden with the disease again :( This change was done to help reduce the load on the servers tho so it is of much higher importance. --Noam 10:17, 17 May 2011 (KST)
Understood. I like writing player articles so I can help sort that out. —DivinO— talk.to.me 03:13, 3 June 2011 (KST)
Great ^^ Template:Notable_Players_Without_Their_Own_Liquipedia_Page is a good place to see whos missing, and its also possible to check Special:WantedPages to see which appear as a redlink on most pages. --Noam 04:17, 3 June 2011 (KST)

Page Protection[edit]

Sup strange one. Why was Violet's page protected on LPI? Seems rather arbitrary --GeckoXp (talk) 18:50, 5 November 2014 (KST)

translations[edit]

Thanks for the advice about translating articles :) I'm relatively new to working with wikis, but I will try to do it right. Hopefully I find enaugh time to translate other articles into german, so if I do something wrong please feel free to tell me ;)

Redirect a category[edit]

Hello !

As you have advised me, I'm trying to create a new Category called "Les articles en français" and redirect it to "Articles in French". But the Pylône page has vanished from the category "Articles in French". It appears in the new category "Les articles en français". I've tried the trick explained in the Help topic with no success => " A redirect to a page in the category namespace : To prevent a page that redirects to a category from appearing in the category, precede the word "Category" with a colon: #REDIRECT [[:Category:Glossary]] " I'm certainly doing something wrong ^^

Have a good day ! --Snurf 01:39, 5 July 2011 (KST)

Hi, I fixed the category thing on my translation of the drone article, I.ll fix the rest when I get back from work.

Category:French Players[edit]

Hello, I noticed that Category:French Players doesn't seem to work properly. When logged-out and the web browser is refreshed, the last French player pages created (ekSi, cArn, BeNSeN and TuZeR) are missing, and SarenS is still represented by his old page (Sarens). Category:French Players displays the actual list of French players only when logged-in, is Category pages need to be reviewed as classical pages ? (Sorry for mistaking your userpage for your user talk page btw ^^) -- Koorb ( talkcontribs) 19:18, 22 July 2011 (KST)

Thanks for your explanations -- Koorb ( talkcontribs) 21:23, 22 July 2011 (KST)

EPS france[edit]

Hi, the link you gave me is not the actual bracket of EPS france X. Actually, the organizers changed the format of the tournament, given that several qualified players couldn't participate. The tournament actually became a group of four, with then a final and a third place final. You can find the actual group page here, I'll also try to update the ESL Pro Series France X page. I'll keep you updated if there's news. -- Koorb ( talkcontribs) 22:31, 23 July 2011 (KST)

OK, so ToD won the EPS France X 3-2 against Adelscott. The third place match between SarenS and TuZeR will be played the next week (SarenS was busy today). -- Koorb ( talkcontribs) 02:28, 24 July 2011 (KST)

8 Team Double Elim bracket template[edit]

Where can i find information about "the new bracket" and take part in the discussion? I don´t like that you no longer see the difference betwen the loser bracket and the winners. In the loser bracket every other round is a consolidation round, and that was very visable with the "old" bracket, where every other arrow cam from the winner-bracket. --Lordlake

Something to think about[edit]

Lately, there was many new users who filled achievements section of players with irrelevant achievements such as second place in weekly events.

On the other hand, there was also users who removed relevant achievements, such as victories in Go4SC2 or GSTL Most Valuable Player Golden Card (even if in that last case, I suspect that the user was doing this as part of his grudge against the player) This situation is troublesome, because editors keep deleting these irrelevant edits, which take them time that could be used for other duties, and the newcomers feel aggrieved, and might get unmotivated

The source of the problem is that, as of today, we don’t really have an established guideline that would set what’s OK and what’s not. For example, the player pages guideline is split between Liquipedia:How to Contribute and the talk page of Portal:Players, and some informations they give are outdated.

So, I think it might be good that we work collectively on a new Guideline page, which will establish the standards for good, and with which every pages will have to comply with. Not only it would put an end to argument over what’s relevant and what’s not, but it also would give us a simple way to determine what page has to be suppressed or not. This guideline page would be created as a collaborative work of all the admins and editors, and would evolve if necessary.

So, do you think I have a chance to get people on board on that? -- Koorb ( talkcontribs) 05:33, 13 August 2011 (KST)

have updated the korean blizzcon invitees with references that i found from playxp and gomtv.

GSL results[edit]

Hey there. I just stumbled across this. Is there any particular reason why my edits might not be ok? I certainly wouldn't want to go against any rules or conventions around here, I just thought it might be a useful addition to the player's articles, as I've always found it somewhat tedious to figure out which player has been in which GSL. --Conti 01:58, 20 August 2011 (KST)

Ah, thanks. My apologies, I totally missed those guidelines, otherwise I would have started a discussion first before going ahead and add the tables. Personally, I think we should make an exception for the GSL, considering that it's one of the biggest and most important tournaments by far, so even a Code S Ro32 spot is quite noteworthy. All the information I added is already in the articles, after all, just not in a summarized form. The links you provided don't quite offer what I'm after, unfortunately, which is basically a quick overview of previous GSL/Tournament results of a specific player. Either way, I'm certainly willing and happy to join any discussions on this, though I usually prefer on-wiki discussions over IRC, since I can only join the latter at rather odd times of the day, if at all. --Conti 02:58, 20 August 2011 (KST)

Huk MLG Rankings[edit]

Hey Noam, I think I just made a mistake. I was trying to change Select and Naniwa since the Liquipedia was saying Naniwa got 11th and Select got 12th while MLG said the opposite. I was supposed to add 30 points to Select, and I think I accidentally scrolled too far and misread what I was doing so I added 30 points to Huk instead of Select. My bad. ~FlowSThead

Mvp's perfect macro[edit]

Man, I didn't say his macro is perfect but Every Korean commentator (Mr. Ahn/Mr.Chae) and English commentator Tastosis 'do' tell us his macro is just too perfect! Do you know what is his nickname in Korea? it's 무결점테란 which means perfect terran/a Terran who has no flaw at all. Why do you keep talking like I'm a spokesperson or what? I am just a fan of GSL who wanna teach others a player's style and characteristic. You wanna insist that Korean or English Commentator is blatantly biased? No, they do not. Though they are neutral watchers, they comment as him "His macro and micro is just perfect. Just flawless. It is kinda scarry" You can check it out at Kroean GSL Broadcasting Mvp vs Huk match 3 / MVP vs July match 2 / MVP vs TOP match 1. I'm not telling lies or making excuses. It is 'true'. So Could you give me some repect? I'm a participant of SC 2 community too. :D --Strawburry17 16:44, 12 September 2011 (KST)

hello, i typed in all results correctly. i know it, because i saw the games.

MLG Orlando German Qualifier[edit]

Hey there. I would like to make a page about the German MLG Orlando Qualifier and I got two questions for that: 1. You think I should make an own page for that event or maybe implent it in the main page of MLG Orlando (it just was a RO8 Bracket). 2. Do you know if there were more events like that in other countries? Couldnt find any information on the MLG page. --ColdPirat 12:34, 26 September 2011 (CEST)

Ok I will do that then. The whole event was sponsored/organized by MLG, with the cooperation of Sport1Games, an offshoot of the German sport channel Sport1 as their media partner. I have to get some more proper information but they will definitly pay HasuObs flight and the hotel. I try to get some more information on that but I think it has something to do with the upcoming European MLG Events next year. --ColdPirat 15:45, 26 September 2011 (CEST)

Noted[edit]

Thanks for the heads up. I just read that you're Liquipedia staff? I was wondering how does one get that position? I am really interested. I just love creating brackets like the one that I made. I created that from scratch just FYI. Lol. Typed the whole thing out. So I was just wondering if I could be a tournament bracket creator or something. Haha! Oh well, thanks for your time. :)--Dialogue 21:08, 20 November 2011 (KST)

Team Template[edit]

1. It actually does not make that much sense to wait with adding new team to a template until I found several pages using them; If I need a team I would rather add a team to a template and use it in - possibly - other pages. On the other hand if I wait until the team appears on multiple pages and add expand a template after that moment, I will have to go through several pages which does not make things easier. Unless there is a good reason why expanding team template immediately does make sense?

2. I believe that there is little harm if I expand template without prior asking anyone. Actually what is a reason for this "policy"?

3. I see a point why I shouldn't include a link to article that does not exist. However it makes more sense to actually include it so that someone can easily create an article needed. Either way, I think.

Nimdil 19:30, 18 January 2012 (KST)

1,2) The team template appears on a large number of articles on the wiki, every time it is edited it increases the load on the server greatly. The team template exists to make it easier to add an icon of the popular teams when it is done often and on many pages, not to list every team in existence, especially ones who are so unknown they do not have an article.
3) Whether adding red links to pages encourages people to create these articles or simply makes a page ugly is something we quite often debate on, but when it is a red link to an article which is very unlikely to ever be created then it is better to not make a link. If an article is ever created linkifying text across the wiki is not as hard as it sounds.

1,2 We generally discussed the issue on the chat so it's already clear for me.Nimdil 01:21, 19 January 2012 (KST)
We is rather unspecific. Question: couldn't we be rather inclusive as far as
{{team}}
template goes BUT expand it weekly (like monday-tuesday pacific day or s.t.)? This way the recreation of which website because of this template will occur at most 1/week which should be acceptable Nimdil 02:23, 19 January 2012 (KST)

Flagged revs[edit]

Hi, I'm spamming a few admins (because I don't know who is most appropriate) to see if I can get rid of my probationary status with flagged revs. Not sure if you have the wiki set up to do this automatically, but I've been making a decent amount of legitimate edits and I hate to have to have someone go through and approve them all. Thanks! Fomenta 08:35, 21 January 2012 (KST)

We actually do have it set up to automatically promote you to editor after certain thresholds have been met, so keep on editing and it will happen :). RegionDist changed to "where player began his pro gaming career"[edit]

Hi, for the {{RegionDist}} template I change the region selection basically to "where the player began his pro gaming career". And as a side note I changed |us= to |am= to make it more clear that whole america is ment, not just the US. Is that okay right now? WCS Korea[edit]

WCS Nationals are minor, but shouldn't WCS Korea be pretty major? The player quality is very high. -opterown

For the WCS we are using Blizzard's own tier system where Nationals are below Continentals which are below the World Championship. It may not be the most accurate but for the moment I think being consistent is better. We may want to remove all the nationals from Minor Tournaments eventually as they clog up that list pretty badly. --Noam, LP staff. Talk to me 16:05, 10 July 2012 (KST)

Hi There:

Thanks for the answer on User_talk:DaRSaiNT#Team Logo , now here is another question. How do i get that mini logo, i must submit some kind of information to the administrators?. I ask you this because RoH an Clan 7 are one of the most notable Teams on Chile, they are getting some good sponsors and high quality players ( Kieds and Soldier ). Must i ask for someone to convert this 2 teams: {{Team|RoHTeaM}} and {{Team|Clan 7}} to get their logo? Just like {{Team|Isurusgaming}} or {{Team|keyd}} thanks!.

contributions[edit]

Hi there,

Are there any sections that you could use a hand with to like clean up etc? I have some spare time on my hands and I'm finally understanding all of the formatting etc on this wiki :)

-- Miserie

Hello, I'd suggest looking at some of the most known/prolific player pages and see if they are good. Take Leenock as an example there's no linearity in the time line for the WoL section of his page, and there are many examples of this. Things like that are difficult to fix so if you'd rather not do that then that's okay. One thing I did when I was just starting out was to hit the random button and read articles until I saw something I thought could be fixed or improved upon. Some other staff might have other suggestions for you though :) --salle (t, c) 04:50, 6 September 2012 (KST)

Fair Use Assertion[edit]

The one I'm going with is a bit more legalistic:

|note=It is asserted that this file's transformative educational use on Liquipedia is covered by U.S. fair use laws because:
 (1) it illustrates an educational article regarding the subject the file represents, (2) the image is used as a primary means of
visual identification of the article topic, (3) it is a low-resolution image and thus not suitable for production of counterfeit
goods, and (4) it is not replaceable with a non-copyrighted or freely copyrighted image of comparable educational value.
[[Category:Fair Use Asserted]]

compared with what you've put on File:IGAMDlogo.png here:

|note=It is assumed that uploading logos of tournaments created by the tournament admins and uploaded to various places such as
z33k.com, teamliquid.net to Liquipedia is considered Fair Use.

Fair use isn't an assumed right, it's an asserted defense of a rights holder's copyright claim in a court of law provided by copyright statute. Also, the situation described in your note is probably close to implied permission, not Fair use, and |license=permission should probably be used instead depending on circumstances.

CombatEX page[edit]

CombatEX Out of the last 5 people that posted on the discussion page, 4 of them have supported CombatEX having a page. I'd definitely say that this matter has been discussed enough, especially as I have provided extensive reasoning why this should be done. Considering nobody replied to my post on 1 dec 2012 it's clear that there isn't any discussion. There's no need for discussion either, there are no counter-arguments why CombatEX shouldn't get a page. HoMM 19:26, 5 December 2012 (KST)
