froyotech is an American Team Fortress 2 team.
Froyotech is often considered to be one of the most successful teams in competitive TF2 history, winning five International LAN events and a grand total of fifteen ESEA-Invite Championships. froyotech are also the first and only team to break the $100,000 mark in tournament earnings and are one of five teams to have achieved a perfect regular season in ESEA-Invite, the others being CheckSix Gaming, Classic Mixup, High Rollers Gaming and eLevate.
History[edit]
Foundation and early dominance (2014-2015)[edit]
This North American team was formed in early 2014 with a lineup of b4nny, clockwork, blaze, Lansky, dummy and shade. The team was created in an effort to dethrone the european and world champions Epsilon eSports at the upcoming international i52 tournament. Results immediately showed with wins in CEVO Season 4 Main and a perfect 16-0 record in ESEA Season 16 Invite on course to the their first Invite Championship. Demoman dummy was swapped out for duwatna from Street Hoops eSports as he couldn't attend the upcoming i52 event in England. froyotech won the tournament, defeating a weakened Epsilon eSports in the Grand Final (5-1, 5-0). Further wins would follow suit including the CEVO Season 5 Pro Finals, the GXL Invitational 2014, two further ESEA-Invite titles in Season's 17 and 18 before Lansky retired after the Season 18 LAN finals. He was swapped out for Ash on Scout with b4nny switching to the empty Pocket Soldier role. The teams performance continued despite this change with a fourth consecutive Invite title in Season 19 and winning i55.
Reformation and continued success (2015-Present)[edit]
Controversy soon gripped the team during the Season 20 playoff match between froyotech and Team SoloUber. Ash left the team mid-game over internal issues [1] which forced the team to use Seymour for the rest of the match. The team subsequently lost the series placing them 3rd overall for the Season. After this incident the roster scattered, forcing b4nny to reform the team with a new roster of Decimate, clockwork, corsa, paddie and Freestate. However Decimate was forced to leave due to a lack of availability forcing b4nny on Scout with corsa on roamer. corsa was shortly swapped out for experienced Invite Medic ninjanick with Freestate switching from Medic to Scout [2]. Despite the changes, the team slowly returned to their winning ways, winning Season 21 and defeating reigning champions RONIN with a lower-bracket sweep. More roster changes would soon follow in order to prepare for the international i58 with long time rival Soldier TLR joining along with new Medic phorofor. The changes proved good within the North American scene, with victory in Season 22, defeating RONIN once again. However at Insomnia itself, the team finished a disappointing 3rd, convincingly beaten by European teams Crowns eSports Club and Full Tilt. This prompted desperate roster changes with blaze and Shade returning to the roster and promising Demoman Habib replacing Muma.
This new-look team dominated the North American TF2 scene however declined to try and reclaim their Insomnia title at Insomnia 61, with team-captain b4nny opting to join the newly formed European mix-team SVIFT for the tournament. With numerous roster changes between seasons froyotech won an extra eight straight ESEA-Invite titles, two Rewind events (the Rewind 2017 Invitational and Rewind II) and Insomnia 63.
