Armor
This article is about armor rating and the reduction of physical damage because of the rating. For the damage modification by armor types read: Armor and Attack types
Armor Stacking[edit]
Each point of armor increases the effective hit points of the unit by 6% of the unit's base hit points. As a result the amount of effective hit points is always increased by the same absolute amount per point of armor regardless of the current armor rating. However the relative increase in effective hit points per point of armor is reduced for higher armor ratings compared to lower armor ratings. Therefore it is recommended to give Rings of Protection to low armor heroes such as the Tauren Chieftain or the Alchemist.
Formulae[edit]
Damage reduction (positive armor):
Reduction = armor * 0.06/1 + 0.06 * armor
Damage amplification (negative armor):
Amplification = 2 - 0.94armor
