The ESL Pro Tour 2020 is the first world wide Warcraft III pro tour. It's organized, sponsored and hosted by ESL in collaboration with DreamHack.
The DreamHack Open - Winter Season - America is the third chance out of four for Americans and Oceanians players to grant EPT points and qualify for the regional final.
The U.S.A. player and double defending champion Hitman won, beating his countryman CrunCher in a remake of the two first season finals.
Format[edit]
Qualifiers[edit]
Among the 8 participants, 4 players qualified and the last season 4 best American performers at are invited : Hitman, CrunCher, iNSUPERABLE & KiWiKaKi.
The qualifier system got 2 steps :
- two open qualifiers offer spots for the closed qualifier :
- qualifier #1 on November 14th (2 spots),
- qualifier #2 on November 15th (2 spots),
- one closed qualifier on November 21st-22nd offers 4 spots for the main event.
Group stage (8 into 4)[edit]
The group stage consists of 2 groups of 4 players each :
- double elimination bracket,
- all matches played as Bo3,
- top 2 of each group advance to the playoffs.
Dates :
- November 26th : semi-finals,
- November 27th : winners' finals,
- November 28th : losers' round 1,
- November 29th : losers' finals.
Playoffs[edit]
The 4 players remaining fight through a Bo5 single elimination bracket :
- December 11th-12th : semi-finals,
- December 13th : final.
