Small flying creature adept at harming spellcasters and avoiding damage.

Small, quick flying unit, effective against enemy casters. Though not actual Dragons, these mystical looking creatures police the Emerald Dream from magic. As such, they are immune to magic. Attacks land and air units.

The Faerie Dragon is an anti-spellcaster unit.

Don't build too many Faerie Dragons. Some players go overboard and build way more than they need and don't have enough troops. Sometimes four is about all you need. In smaller games you might only need 2-3. In very large games you might even want five or six. Just don't build too many. You can experiment until you can figure out what is the ideal amount.

Spells & Abilities[edit]

Phase Shift
Cast Type : Autocast  Ability Type:  Magical
Target Type : No Target
Causes this unit to shift out of existence whenever it takes damage. While out of existence, this creature cannot: attack, move, cast spells, be attacked, or have spells cast upon it.
Cast Requirements : 25 6.5 s
Duration : 1.5 s
Hotkey : E

Notes

You cannot use Phase Shift when casting Mana Flare.

Phase Shift cannot dispel abilities such as Web or Ensnare.

This causes attackers to switch targets (like Taunt), and causes any projectiles en route to a Faerie Dragon to miss.

Mana Flare
Cast Type : Channel  Ability Type:  Magical
Target Type : No Target
Causes the Faerie Dragon to channel negative magical energies that damage nearby enemies when they cast spells. Also increases the Faerie Dragon's armor by 12.
Cast Requirements : 50 20 s
Targets Allowed : Air, Ground, Enemy
Area of Effect : 750
Duration : 30 s
Damage per Mana Point (Hero) : 4 (1)
Max Damage (Hero) : 80 (50)
Splash Radius : 200
Damage Interval : 0.75 seconds
Armor Bonus : 12
Hotkey : F

Notes

Data:

Splash Damage Radius: 20

Unit Damage Per Point of Mana Used: 3

Hero Damage Per Point of Mana Used: 1

Max Damage Per Unit: 80

Max Damage Per Hero: 50

Make sure you use this ability in the right spot. Also make sure you have enough mana by not using Phase Shift. This ability can only hit 1 target per 0.75 seconds.

Moving the Faerie Dragon will interrupt the Mana Flare ability (same as for the Dragonhawk Rider's Cloud ability)

Mana Flare splash does not damage units that lack a mana pool (don't have mana).

Spell Immunity
Cast Type : Passive
Target Type : No Target
Renders this unit immune to negative spells.
Effect : Spell Immunity

Balance Patch History
VersionReleaseBalance Changes
1.36.12023-11-20
1.32.102021-04-14
1.172004-09-20
1.152004-05-10
  • Nerf Mana Flare splash damage no longer harms units that lack a mana pool.
1.142004-01-07
  • Nerf Mana Flare area-of-effect damage radius reduced to 200 from 250.
1.102003-07-03
  • Neutral Mana Flare has had a bug fixed that was preventing multiple Mana Flares from attacking multiple targets at the same time. As a result, Mana Flare has been rebalanced, and deals up to 90 damage to targets in a 250 area when a unit casts a spell, down from 125 damage.
  • Neutral When "attack-moving", air units now prefer to attack other air units more often than previously.
  • Neutral Flying Unit Improvements: We have turned off collision detection for flying units so that they can now easily pass through each other. This will allow air units to move about more smoothly than before. We have also added "separation behavior" so air units will break out of clusters once they reach a destination.
