Fast moving flying machine. Excellent at scouting, and effective against air units. Can learn the Flying Machine Bombs and Flak Cannons upgrades. Can see invisible units. Attacks air units.

Flying Machines' main role is being the best anti-air unit for big air fights. This is because of the immense splash damage output of the Flak Cannons upgrade. Flak does not benefit from the standard damage upgrades, so the armor upgrades are more important for this unit. They are also good scouting units (cheap, with truesight against invisibility as well as an extreme sight range).

If the amount of Flying Machines with Flak Cannons reaches a critical mass they are unbeatable by air units. 50 food of Flying Machines win easily against 100 food of Hippogryphs even if their attacks would deal 0 damage, as Flak Cannons deal much more damage in big air fights.

Strategy[edit]

They are often used in masses to counter Undead heavy air armies. In low numbers they are used to counter Goblin Zeppelins or Faerie Dragons and to scout.

  • Buff Flying Machine damage versus air increased to 12-13 from 7-8.
  • Neutral When "attack-moving", air units now prefer to attack other air units more often than previously.
  • Neutral Flying Unit Improvements: We have turned off collision detection for flying units so that they can now easily pass through each other. This will allow air units to move about more smoothly than before. We have also added "separation behavior" so air units will break out of clusters once they reach a destination.
