With their cost of only gold, they could be a good addition to an army, that struggles with lumber. The Ogre Mauler has a good attack cooldown, decent damage range and fair movement speed.

Be careful with the Ogre Mauler. He is a lvl 5 creature which grants a high bounty of experience, when killed.
